Established in 2010 under the Office of the Deputy Governor, the Commissions Secretariat provides support to the independent entities established by the 2009 Constitution as “Institutions Supporting Democracy”.
Commissions Secretariat is committed to openness, transparency and serving the public interest in compliance with the Freedom of Information Law, 2007.
His Excellency the Governor Martyn Roper, OBE invites expressions of interests for appointment to various statutory commissions.
The Commissions Secretariat aims to maintain the independence and integrity of the various constitutionally created commissions to which the Secretariat provides strategic, analytic, research, and administrative support.
The Commissions Secretariat was established in 2010 under the Office of the Deputy Governor to provide support to the independent entities established by the 2009 Constitution as “Institutions Supporting Democracy”.
The Secretariat is spearheaded by a Manager who is supported by a team of Investigators, Analysts/Administrators and an Administrative Officer; a professional team encompassing a wide-range of academic qualifications and diverse professional experiences.
The Secretariat strives to uphold principles of accountability and transparency in its commitment to ethically-sound managerial strategies and research procedures. It further seeks to perpetuate public education as it relates to democracy in general; a cross-cutting goal amongst all commissions.
Mission
Provide sound analytical advice and strong administrative support to the Commissions placed under our purview in an effort to ensure that they may fulfil their respective constitutional and legislative mandates.
Vision
Maintain the independence and integrity of each commission as mandated by the Cayman Islands Constitution Order 2009.
